Resolving an InstallShield 1607 Error

Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Run Time
|
|
|
This is a generic error message the setup program gives when there is a problem
with your computer's current settings. There are many different possible
causes of this error, so you may have to try a few things before the
problem is resolved.
|
|
|
1. Turn off any virus scanners.
|
|
|
|
If you have an anti-virus software packages (ie. McAfee, Semantics, Norton) go to the System Tray
located on the bottom right corner of your screen (near the clock). If you have a virus program
it will most likely have an icon located here. Right click on the virus program's icon and turn it off.
Try the installation again without the virus software running. Remember to turn the virus software back on
after the VHI installation is complete.

2. Delete all the files in your temp directory and restart your computer
|
|
|
-
Click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.

Type %temp% in the address bar of the My Computer Window.

Go to the File menu and click Select All.

Press the Delete button on your keyboard.
Note: The computer may not let you delete some files because they may be in use.
If this is the case just try to delete as many files as possible.

Restart your computer and attempt the installation again.

3. Make sure all your mapped drives are still mapped.
|
|
|
|
If your computer usually has drives mapped make sure that they are all still
mapped and are connecting.
|
|
|
|
4. Register the idriver.exe file
|
|
|
-
Click on the Start button on the bottom left corner of your screen

Click on the Run icon.

Type cmd and click OK.
-
Type C: and press enter.
-
Type cd Program Files\common files\installshield\driver and press enter.
-
Type dir and press enter.
-
The screen should be displaying a list of files in this directory. If there is a directory
named 9 type cd 9\Intel 32 and press enter, if there is a directory named 7 type cd 7\Intel 32 and press enter.
-
Type idriver.exe /REGSERVER and press enter.
-
Restart your computer and try to run the VHI installation again.
